Mafia III: Definitive Edition

Mafia III: Definitive Edition, the third game in the Mafia Series is a remastered version of the original action-adventure adventure released in October 2016. This time around you’ll be playing as Vietnam War veteran Lincoln Clay who sets out to build his own criminal empire while seeking revenge against the Marcano Crime Family who killed his adopted family, the Black Mob, and left him for dead.

With remastered graphics, an excellent script, epic soundtrack, top quality voice acting and convincing animations bringing Mafia III this game is well worth playing – however, the repetitiveness of the gameplay can get a tad boring.

Mafia III Definitive Edition

I was hoping for a bit more from the remastered version. Overall I didn’t see much of a visual improved from the original. It retains the original fantastic soundtrack that regularly features the likes of The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and many other classics.

Set in the fictional town of New Bordeaux (think New Orleans) you’ll explore the city by ripping it apart piece by piece. Along the way, you’ll gain acquaintances that become significant later on in the game and the way you build these relationships will define how you finish the game.

The action is fast, violent and bloody, but you get to decide the fate of certain gang members by letting them live in the hope that they’ll pay off later on. Once you’ve made certain acquaintances and have begun to take apart crime rackets, you realise that some missions involve the same tasks such as destroying items, killing enforces that cost your rivals thousands of dollars through theft, leading to a showdown with a ‘boss’.

What you’ll get when you buy Mafia III: Definitive Edition

You can also unlock additional items in Mafia III: Definitive Edition by registering for a free 2K Account. By logging into your 2K Account, you’ll receive the Classico three-piece suit outfit and the IL Duca gold-plated revolver.

The Verdict

Although gameplay can get a little monotonous and somewhat repetitive, the storyline alone makes Mafia III worth playing + the addition of all the DLC make it a no brainer.
